Telekom continues to expand fibre-optic Internet in these Berlin districts
ANZEIGE
Berlin – Everyone has heard of fibre optics by now. But what is it exactly? And what advantages does the new generation of Internet offer? Telekom explains!
In many cities and communities, the fibre-optic expansion is in full swing right now. In Berlin especially, the network is expanding, making the connection even more important.
You can find out what this means for you specifically here.
Telekom continues to expand fibre-optic Internet in Berlin
Fibre-optic Internet has arrived in the capital – and is being expanded further. By 2030, Telekom plans to connect around two million households to the high-speed network.
That's why you can already see fibre-optic expansion work being conducted in all the districts, for example in Kreuzberg, Neukölln, Spandau and Wedding.
Getting lightning-fast Internet is easy:
Submitting a short online query via www.telekom.de/berlin will show whether your address can be supplied with fibre optics. If so, you can order your connection directly.
Good to know: Anyone who chooses a fibre-optic connection by 31 December 2023 will save the one-off connection costs of 799.95 euros. And until 30 November 2023, you will receive the fibre-optic modem free of charge when you order a fibre-optic rate plan.
Fibre-optic Internet offers these advantages
A fibre-optic connection takes you online at the speed of light with up to one gigabit per second. This enables unlimited surfing pleasure, even in parallel on many different devices, e.g. for
- Leisure time and fun: Music and video streaming, digital TV and gaming
- Working from home: Video conferencing and fast access to web-based applications
- Comfort and safety: Control heating, lighting and much more
- Digital TV: including foreign-language TV programming from politics to shows
- Sustainability: Fibre-optic networks consume less energy than copper networks and do not generate electromagnetic radiation
The German Federation of Consumer Organizations also classifies fibre-optic connections as future-proof technology. It advises having a fibre-optic connection installed directly to the building as soon as the residential area is supplied with fibre optics. Making the decision later often leads to higher costs.
Therefore, the following applies: Act now, secure a free connection and profit in the long term.
Is your district not yet included?
If your address is not yet in the current expansion area, you can register at telekom.com/fibre-optic free of charge and without obligation to be informed as soon as the roll-out starts in your area.
Good to know: Homeowners, property managers and tenants can initiate the fibre-optic connection process.
Telekom then takes care of the next steps and usually installs the house connection within just one day.
Why it pays to switch to fibre optics
With Telekom, the switch to fibre optics is simple.
Just select a fibre-optic rate – Telekom takes care of construction and installation.
For this purpose, Telekom offers different speeds to suit your needs. And what does it cost? Just as much as conventional Internet rates!
The only difference is that during the promotional period until 31 December 2023, you benefit from attractive special conditions and receive the one-time connection fee of 799.95 euros for free.
The following applies: Same speed, same price, higher stability – and no effort.
Because thanks to the free switch-over service, you don't have to worry about anything. Telekom will terminate your contract with your previous provider and switch your line in good time.
Fibre optics for business
Fibre optics is also very attractive in the commercial sector, as employees, vehicles and applications are becoming increasingly interconnected. Fibre optics provides sufficient power for current and upcoming digital business applications, such as VR and AR applications.
